Your Secrets Safe With Me ……….I Wasn't Even Listening !

Relationship Reality

Relationships can be a funny old thing, one minute you are so loved up, the next you want to place a pillow over your other halves head and press gently, with a firm hand. I’m not condoning violence in anyway shape or form, but sometimes just the way your other half breathes gets on your absolute fucking last nerve.

We have this amazing invention now called social media, where couples post how picture perfect their relationships are, when in reality we know it’s not actually normal to be that perfect all the time.

Don’t roll your eyes at me, you know it’s the truth.

Take relationships that were built in the earlier decades, your nan would be fuming if she saw your grandad liking Maureen’s holiday pictures, only because she’s a bitch and wears those low-cut tops to get everyone’s attention in the pub.

Nowadays people look at these so called “Picture Perfect” Instagram relationships and have this illusion that this is how their relationship should be all the time, but I’m here to tell you a little secret.

Come closer, shhhhhhh, don’t tell anyone I told you this as its super top secret (Not everything you see on Instagram is real).

We never had this discussion, got me!

You see relationships are hard enough without the added external pressures of living up to someone else’s idea of reality in pictures.

Their relationship in picture’s probably isn’t how it is all the time, you see with any social media, people will only show you what they want you to see.

They don’t want you to see their messy houses, their scruffy days, and the time when they caught their other half looking at half dressed women or men on insta.

They have a reputation to protect, a brand to build and in no way shape of form is this your reality or even theirs.

Sadly, for some, they will get washed away on the wave of checking out Jodie’s selfies, when she’s half-dressed and flashing what her mother gave her. Or Rob showing off his amazing 6 pack at the gym and looking buff.

Again, these people aren’t real, they have bad days just like you do. When their hair needs a wash, they’re sat in joggers they’ve had on for 4 days straight and they’re full of hormonal spots, but that’s the stuff they never show you.

They sell the fact they’re picture perfect all the time, when in fact they probably look like that 2% of the time.

I have a saying, why go out and have a cheap beefburger, when you have steak at home.

Meaning why go out and look for something that may look better than what you have at home, but in reality, it’s just a cheaper version all dressed up to look better and will probably end up giving you a bad stomach.

You know like those picture-perfect food pics’ and in reality, its 4 days old and there’s little chance trading standards would class it as actual meat.

A relationship is all about trusting your person and being able to communicate your thoughts and feelings and having them validate your feelings and you both working hard together to make a relationship work.

Nothing in life is easy, but if it’s worth having then you will work extra hard to make it work.

Sometimes they will get on your last nerve, other days you can’t imagine your life without them, but one thing is for certain, arguments are normal, looking like an extra from the walking dead is normal and don’t be fooled by the mum in school who post about her picture perfect life, we all know the truth.

All About little old me!

One woman, (she/her) Mum, Wife, Granddaughter, Daughter, Sister, Auntie and Great Auntie (yes, I am old).

I started this blog to document my journey throughout my ‘social media’ detox, but as I love to write and share, (some say overshare), I thought I’d try and do a little more of what I love coming into 2024.

Stick with me because I will be sharing my day to day antics, and whatever else 2024 and beyond has to throw at me .
